WRATH OF THE TITANS
Starring: Sam Worthington, Rosamund Pike, Bill
Nighy, Edgar RamÃrez,
Toby Kebbell, Danny Huston, Ralph Fiennes & Liam
Neeson
Directed by Jonathan Liebesman for distribution by Warner
Brothers
The Plot: Following his
epic defeat of the mythical Kraken, the son of Zeus is forced out of retirement
when a battle for power breaks out among his celestial family and threatens
civilization.
The Final Word: Despite being
critically savaged for its poor use of 3D, the original “Clash Of The Titans”
reboot did quite well for itself during its 2010 run. Now the sequel reunites
most of the original cast to take another shot at box office supremacy, bad 3D
and all! Expect this one to do just as well.
MIRROR MIRROR
Starring: Lily Collins, Julia Roberts, Armie Hammer,
Nathan Lane,
Mare Winningham, Danny Woodburn & Sean Bean
Directed by Tarsem Singhfor distribution by Relativity
Media
The Plot: A new
live-action lighter take on the classic fairy tale “Snow White and the Seven
Dwarfs.”
The Final Word: A few years
ago an internal studio battle broke out between Relativity Media and Universal
over competing “Snow White” projects. While each company was jockeying to have
their film out first, each ironically lost the fight when ABC’s “Once Upon A
Time,” debuted this year and seemingly stole the thunder of both films. Still
both projects will see the light of day with the Julia Roberts led “Mirror,
Mirror,” ultimately going first and the darker Kristen Stewart starring “Snow
White and the Huntstman,” slotted in June. While the jury’s still out on which
will do better, history has shown in most cases both films underperform.
