New In Theaters - July 3, 2012

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN
Starring: Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans,
Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan
Martin Sheen & Sally Field
Directed by Marc Webb for distribution by Columbia Pictures (Sony)

The Plot: The famed comic-book webslinger gets another reboot and another dimension of filmmaking.

The Final Word: By this point, if you didn’t know this was going to the summer of superheroes, then you really have been living under a rock. Following the success of “The Avengers,” it seems very likely that both Spidey and Batman will keep the streak alive when they hit theaters this month.

KATY PERRY: PART OF ME
Starring: Katy Perry
Directed by Dan Cutforth & Jane Lipsitz for distribution by Paramount Insurge

The Plot: A look behind the scenes at the life of pop star Katy Petty both on-stage and off.

The Final Word: Globally popular singer Katy Petty joins the “Glee” cast, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and The Jonas Brothers as the latest performer to tape bring one of their live concerts to the big screen in 3D.

SAVAGES
Starring: Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, Aaron Johnson,
John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Benicio Del Toro,
Salma Hayek, Emile Hirsch & Demian Bichir
Directed by Oliver Stone for distribution by Universal

The Plot: Three friends and small time drug deals are forced to team with a dirty DEA agent after a ruthless cartel enters their town and attempts to take control of the market.

The Final Word: By this point you have to feel bad for Taylor Kitsch. He comes off a hugely successful and critically acclaimed run on the Emmy-winning series like “Friday Night Lights,” and then sees both of his major film projects crash and burn. Here though Kitsch stands a better chance as Hollywood legend Oliver Stone is guiding the ship and he’s backed by a cast that includes John Travolta and Salma Hayek among many other notable names.  While there are no guarantees in Hollywood, this one’s got some buzz behind it and could prove to be a much needed hit for everyone involved!
